Living The Excuse Free Life

Chris PicI know just the title alone may throw you off just a little bit. Is it even possible to live an excuse free life? Just imagine a world where people did not make excuses, they just accomplished the goals and task they set out to do daily. I know some people have valid reasons why they did not accomplish something or yet to have stepped out on a particular goal. For the most part and the majority it boils down to excuses. Webster says that an excuse is a plea offered in apology for some fault or neglect and people use it to justify their position. My mentor says “Excuses are tools of the incompetent on the highway of life used to build bridges that go absolutely no where.” Some of the reasons why people make excuses is fear, lack of knowledge and selfishness.

There are many more, but I have seen a lot of these reasons. I remember when I did not pursue my dream as a motivation speaker because I did not know enough about the industry and I did not know how to start the process of getting started. I made excuses on why I did not step out on my dream, even though people enjoyed hearing me speak and request for me to do their events. I let the lack of knowledge stop me from entering into my destiny. What’s stopping you? I made all kind of excuses like “I’m too busy”, “I just don’t have the time”, “There is a season for everything” and the classic “I don’t know what my purpose is.” I know they were excuses. In order to break the cycle and begin this process of an excuse free life I had to do a put a few things in place. I needed a coach/ mentor, I had to increase my reading and I had to get rid of some dream stealing friends.

I had to change the picture on the inside if I wanted to see the greatness come into this world. My coach helped me increase the vision I had of myself and gave me direction. Increasing my reading gave me the confidence needed to get in front of people. Some of the people in my life were feeding my fears and insecurities and they had to leave. Hanging around people who stop dreaming for themselves will cause your dream to die. I could not afford to have them around. As a result I’m now living my dreams. What about you?
